In order to educate and inform users about the basic safety issues of cylinder handling, Safety Tips will be prepared and distributed with each cylinder ordered.
LPG Gas Cylinder Safety Awareness
Education on the safety awareness of using LPG gas cylinders among consumers should always be strengthened. This includes proper LPG gas cylinder installation, maintenance and safety training in the event of an accident or fire.
Here are some Safety Tips for handling LPG cylinder
Ensure that the gas connection between the gas regulator and the gas appliances can fit a gas hose with a suitable size or diameter. Never use a hose that does not fit the gas regulator properly.
Use a SIRIM certified gas hose model (BS 3212 or MS 773) and keep an eye on it. Whenever a hose is worn out or damaged, replace it with a new one. (It is suggested to change every three years)
Use LPG-compatible hoses with factory-crimped end connections. Do not connect the hose to a gas regulator or gas appliance without a clip at the end of the connection..
Use the correct regulator and routinely check its conditions. Use hoses and regulators that are distributed by authorized MiraGas dealers.
Safety Tips to Use a Cylinder in Home/Kitchen:
The gas regulator/valve should be turned on. If your gas appliance does not have automatic ignition or a pilot light, light a match or lighter first.
In a well-ventilated space, use MiraGas cylinders. Use is not permitted in sealed environments or basements.. Gas must be used in a space that is properly vented since gas burns oxygen, which is necessary to maintain a safe environment.
Place no hot items on the gas cylinder. They may cause damage to the gas regulator or the hose.
Under no circumstances should cooking be left unattended. When a cooking pot overflows, it can extinguish the flame and cause gas buildup.
Handling and Storage of LPG Cylinder:
- Maintain the cylinders upright. If placed on its side, liquid rather than vapor could escape, increasing the risk.
- Keep the gas cylinder upright and away from heat sources and ignition sources in a space that is well-ventilated.
- Place the cylinder away from open burning or smoking areas.

What To Do When There’s Suspected/Confirmed Gas Leakage?
In order to help with leak detection, ethyl mercaptan is added to MiraGas as an odorant. Extinguish all open fires and ignition sources in the event of a gas leak or a suspected leak, and switch off all gas appliances.
NEVER turn on or off any electrical device. Wait until a qualified individual has deemed it safe to do so before turning on the gas supply.
Open the doors and windows if the gas leak happens inside to improve ventilation.
Move the cylinder outside to a clear area away from people, buildings, drains, and potential ignition sources if the situation is safe.
Call the MiraGas Customer Service Center at 1-300-88-5808 to inform them or your gas supplier. Before transporting the cylinder to a well-ventilated open area, detach the gas regulator and replace it with the Blue Safety Cap if the gas leaks from it or the gas cylinder valve.
What To Do When There’s a Fire? Inform Fire Emergency Services (999) of the incident as soon as possible.
- If it is possible and safe to do so, shut off the gas supply.
- If it is safe to do so, take the gas cylinder out of the area where the fire is. If the fire is too close, do not approach the cylinder.
- Stop the source of the gas leakage before extinguishing the fire in the event of a fire caused by gas leakage (if deemed safe to do so).
- If the leak cannot be stopped, consider letting the fire burn until the source can be found. Do not turn on the gas supply until the authorities have declared it safe to do so.
What to Do with an Empty Cylinder?
- Return the empty cylinder to your MiraGas supplier. Gas cylinders must not be disposed of in domestic or industrial waste facilities.
- Even after use, do not cut, puncture or burn the gas cylinder.
- Do not use the cylinder for anything other than what it was designed for.
Safety Features MiraGas LPG Cylinders
All MiraGas domestic LPG cylinders have safety features installed. Our LPG cylinders come with two layers of protection, a white valve seal and a safety blue cap.
White Valve Seal
A white valve seal indicates that the cylinder is fresh from the filling plant and hasn’t been tempered during transit or handling.
Safety Blue Cap of MiraGas
The Safety Blue Cap serves as auxiliary protection and is typically used after the white valve seal has been removed. When the cylinder is not in use or connected to the regulator, users can close the valve with a blue cap. When a cylinder is suspected of leaking after a period of use, the Safety Blue cap should be used.

What are the safety precautions I need to take while handling a MiraGas cylinder?
Always use a trolley to move the cylinder and avoid dragging it on the ground. Do not expose the cylinder to heat or direct sunlight, and keep it away from any flammable materials or sources of ignition. Always use a regulator designed for LPG cylinders and ensure it is properly connected before use.
